Moonee Valley Goes Green: FOGO Education and Recycling
Client:
Moonee Valley City Council
Project:
The FOGO (Food Organics and Garden Organics) kerbside service was being phased in across Moonee Valley to divert green waste from landfill.
Vision for the project was to ensure community members gained a strong understanding of FOGO and felt confident in incorporating it into their household routine. The desired sentiment was reassurance that using FOGO was easy and impactful, with Council and contractors responsibly managing waste.
Artificial Studios was comissioned to create two videos in various formats:
Video One
educate residents on how to correctly use their FOGO caddy/bin. The video showcased residents responsibly using their FOGO caddy/bin, emphasizing the importance of separating food and garden waste. Key demographics, including young males, families, and older individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, were featured.
Video Two
Inform residents about the recycling process of their food and green organics at The Veolia organic waste facility. Situated in Bulla, this facility uses cutting-edge Australian-made technology to transform thousands of tonnes of organic waste into high-grade composts and mulches.
Deliverables:
· 2 x 2-min video in landscape format for website
· 2 x 30-sec videos in portrait format for social media
The videos have a relaxed yet energetic tone, featuring everyday people and bright visuals. They aimed to raise awareness about the FOGO rollout, change mindsets, and demonstrate how easy it is to use the FOGO bin with simple tips for every household member.
